~ Master Hong

Hong Sokyun, nicknamed "Earthbreaker", was a powerful martial artist that is one member of the Four Guardians. During the era of the Naryu Empire, he worked with the other guardians to defeat the demons and prevent the Dark Chi from overwhelming the Earthen Realm.

It was then that he witnessed his fellow Guardian, Jiwan, save a young Jinsoyun from corruption.

After the events in which Jiwan, in the act of protecting Jinsoyun, was killed by Mushin, Hong (who, with Iksanun, were unaware of Mushin's treachery) blasted a grieving and angry Jinsoyun off Jiwan Peak. Afterwards, he retreated to Heaven's Reach and founded the Hongmoon School. Jiwan's sword, the Twilight's Edge, was given to Hong for safekeeping, which he disguised as his walking staff.

Last Days of the Hongmoon School

Some 30 years after Jiwan's death, Hong, despite being ill with a persistent cough, gathered his present pupils for a meeting and soon accepted the player as one worthy to learn the Hongmoon Arts. A short while afterwards, Heaven's Reach came under attack from fiends from the Dark Realm. Hong was utterly shocked by the reappearance of Jinsoyun, whom he believed to be dead, and saddened when he discovered that Lusung was responsible for poisoning his medicine daily, and betraying the Hongmoon School.

Angered by what had happened, Hong transformed into his Earthbreaker form, and fought Jinsoyun and her underlings. He was forced to halt his attacks when he witnessed a blade being held to the player's throat. Begging for the player to be spared, Hong tosses the Twilight's Edge to Jinsoyun, and asks her to keep her bargain. Jinsoyun releases the pupil, only to kill Hong immediately afterwards. With his last words, Hong told the player to live on, before his mortal body disintegrated.
