Halcyon Hills Overview

Halcyon Hills

Background

Lately, the Realms of the world have started to converge, causing more and more places of the Divine Realm to become corrupted. One of these places is the Halcyon Hills: a natural orchard managed by Sundo for three thousand blissful years. The hills are the only place where the Halcyon trees can grow, trees that bear the Divine Peaches.

With the corruption increasing, the tranquil estuaries that water this grove have turned wild and bitter, turning the roots and fruits of the orchards twisted. To make matters worse, a primal tribalism has infected the Halcyon Hills: a band of monkeys who never play by the rules. Having sieged the orchard to take the Divine Peaches for themselves, it's up to you to thwart these meddlesome monkeys and restore order to the Divine Realm.

Full Mechanics

Originally by Azaethal (EU)

Miniboss: Wonkey Gong

Wonkey Gong

Wonkey Gong guards the lake of the Halcyon Hills with a breathtakingly powerful Thunder Cloud.

  • Health Points:
    • Easy Mode: 577,200,000
    • Hard Mode: 1,920,000,000
  • Condition Bars: x2

Attack Rotation and Mechanics

  1. Lightning
    1. Upon engaging the boss, Wonkey Gong ascends from the ground onto a cloud. While on the cloud, the boss is untargetable.
    2. The boss will fire several puddles of Lightning onto all party members. Lightning inflicts stun over an area of approximately 3m around the target.
    3. During this time, six Bomb Monkeys will spawn around the room, throwing one Monkey Bomb toward three randomly selected players.
      1. When a Monkey Bomb is being thrown, your character will receive a mark. The Monkey Bomb will hit your character around 2-3 seconds after the mark showed up.
      2. By successfully blocking the Monkey Bomb, your character will automatically pick up a Wind Breaker item. With Wind Breaker, you can either:
        1. Drop the Wind Breaker item by pressing 4.
        2. Throw the Wind Breaker item by pressing LMB. Throw Wind Breaker
  2. Wonkey Gong creates a Thunder Cloud
    1. When the message shows up, the boss receives the status effect Thunder Cloud. Thunder Cloud
      1. Thunder Cloud lasts for 5 seconds. Upon expiration, Thunder Cloud will inflict instant death to all targets.
      2. Thunder Cloud can be canceled by throwing Wind Breaker, bringing the boss down from the cloud.
      3. Throwing Wind Breaker before Thunder Cloud will not bring the boss down.
      4. Throwing several Wind Breakers during Thunder Cloud will inflict additional damage to the boss. Throw Wind Breakers during Thunder Cloud
  3. Tornado
    1. If the boss was successfully brought down, the next attack will be Tornado, a multiple spinning attack causing knockup. This is similar to the spinning attack of Iron Monkey in Irontech Forge.

This pattern will continue until the boss is dead. Once the boss is dead, each nearby character will be filled with power from the Divine Peach, making you light on your feet for 5 minutes

Boss: Monkey King Jaechun

Jaechun

Jaechun, leader of the Wukong Gang, is filled with power from the nourishment of the Divine Peach.

  • Health Points:
    • Easy Mode: 3,166,800,000
    • Hard Mode: 8,120,000,000
  • Condition Bars: x2
  • Phase Initiations: 90%, 50%

Attack Pattern

Regular Pattern

  • The boss’s target should be positioned at 12 o’clock.
  • Each hit performed by Jaechun will inflict Glued. GluedIcon
    • Glued is a damage over time status effect lasting for 30 seconds.
  • Going too far from the boss will trigger a range-check attack.
    • Slime Slingshot, where the boss jumps onto the target with a large AoE.
  1. Slam
    1. Boss throws five powerful slime attacks toward the party members.
    2. Each hit inflicts the Stuck effect for 5 seconds causing the character to become immobilized.
  2. Windmill
    1. Double pizzas.
    2. The first hit will leave safe zones either toward and behind tank location or 90° from the tank on both sides.
    3. The second hit’s safe zone will rotate 90° from the first safe zone.
  3. Relentless Spinning Strike
    1. Triple spin, with the last inflicting knockback.
  4. Relentless Whip
    1. 270° pizza with the safe zone on the opposite side of the tank.
  5. Resonance Strike
    1. Spawns x7 slime pools around the boss, inflicting an immobile state for 3 seconds if hit by them.
    2. After spawning the slime pools, the boss will perform a 360 AoE inflicting knockdown. Shortly after the AoE, the slime pools will turn into Jelly Orbs that rotate and move in toward the boss. These can inflict great damage, so either use plenty of Resist skills or go out further from the boss to avoid them.

Time Based Pattern

  1. Throw Slime
    1. Boss throws five powerful slime attacks toward the party members.
    2. Each hit inflicts the Stuck effect for 5 seconds causing the character to become immobilized.
  2. Flying Slam
    1. Jumps toward the furthest target, inflicting a room-wide knockdown AoE alongside a shockwave. The shockwave can be avoided by jumping.
  3. Release Slime
    1. Boss starts performing a room-wide AoE. Use a joint technique to interrupt.
    2. At the same time, surrounding Jelly Orbs will quickly move in toward the boss. These can inflict great damage, so either use plenty of Resist skills or go out further from the boss to avoid them.

Mechanics

In both Easy Mode & Hard Mode difficulty, most parties circumvent the mechanics by using a Hongmoon Instant Revival Charm, followed by an Instant Mass Revival Charm to revive other party members. As such, learning the mechanics are mainly needed for Dungeon Challenge.

I would also like to preface this by mentioning that the mechanics are not too difficult to perform once understood, however understanding them purely by text can prove difficult. Please view other people’s gameplay videos of the mechanics in addition to reading this guide to understand the mechanics properly.

  1. Flying Slam
    1. Leaps to the center of the room causing Flying Slam.
      1. Flying Lunge is a room-wide knockdown AoE.
      2. Flying Lunge triggers a shockwave from the middle to the walls. The shockwave can be avoided by jumping.
  2. Jaechun emits Jelly Orbs
    1. Boss emits Jelly Orbs. Jelly Orbs are targetable enemies that spawn at the edge of the arena before moving toward the boss. One Jelly Orb will be spawned at each of the following locations:
      1. 12 o’clock / 2 o’clock
      2. 4 o’clock / 6 o’clock
      3. 8 o’clock / 10 o’clock
    2. There are three forms of Jelly Orbs:
Elasticity Orb
  • One round, large, pink ball that bounces on the ground.
  • Elasticity Orb reaching the boss will result in the boss entering a Berserk Rage.
  • Each bounce sends a Slime Wave inflicting knockdown to nearby targets.
  • Block/Counter/Parry/Deflect skills will cause them to change direction to move away from the boss, rather than toward it.
  • On six stacks of Peach Drop (adds x1 stack when the Elasticity Orb is hit), it will be popped, turning into x2 Split Elasticity Orb. 2x Split Elastic Orb
Split Elasticity Orb
  • Two round, small, pink balls that bounce on the ground.
  • Split Elasticity Orb reaching the boss will result in a stack of Divine Sap.
    • Boss enters a Berserk Rage on 4 stacks of Divine Sap. Divine Sap
    • Boss can also get Divine Sap stacks from attacks that hit the mites.
  • The bounces will not send Slime Waves. On four stacks of Peach Drop (adds x1 stack when the Split Elasticity Orb is hit), it will be popped, turning into the version written below.
Split Elasticity Orb
  • Four round, small, pink balls that bounce on the ground.
  • Split Elasticity Orb reaching the boss will result in a stack of Divine Sap.
  • The bounces will not send Slime Waves. On one stack of Peach Drop (adds x1 stack when the Split Elasticity Orb is hit), it will be popped, turning into the version written below.
Mite
  • Several mites that follow the target that hit the Split Elasticity Orb. If either the boss or a player absorbs a mite, the effect Divine Sap will be applied.

  1. Jaechun is watching someone
    1. The furthest target from the boss receives the status effect Watched for 15 seconds. Watched Status On expiration, the target will get fully immobilized by Stuck. Stuck Status
      1. Before becoming immobilized, the player must transform the Elasticity Orb to mites and position themselves accordingly. How this is done will be explained soon.
      2. The second furthest and third furthest targets will also receive Watched, but this effect is a permanent one simply marking them as a person of interest by Jaechun. Watched Permanent Status Later on in the mechanics, these same targets will receive a 12s and 10s long effect each. To not get into the Stuck effect too early, the Jelly Orb popping has to be delayed. To delay the transformation to mites, they should pop the Elasticity Orb to stop the Slime Waves, but then only block the Split Elasticity Orb to stop them from reaching the boss.
  2. Release Slime
    1. Boss starts performing a roomwide AoE.
    2. Use a joint technique to interrupt.
  3. Jaechun covers someone with Slime
    1. The closest target to the boss will be grabbed and turned into a Jelly Drop. After avoiding move #6 (see below), the Jelly Drop target should move closer to the player whose Watched effect is actively ticking down. Jelly Drop lasts for 30 seconds and will disable all regular skills and  replace them with two others:
Slime Wave Slime Wave
  • Standard key: 1
  • Deploys a 3m AoE around the character when used. The inner part of Slime Wave will release a person in the permanent Stuck effect, while the outer part of the Slime Wave will absorb nearby mites.

Successful absorption will add x1 stack of Divine Sap for each absorbed mite. x9 of these are required to complete the mechanics. These x9 stacks will be obtained during three parts of the phase. Divine Sap

Rush Giant Gelly Orb Status
  • Standard key: 2
  • A normal dash skill that resists attacks and status effects when used.

  1. Throw Slime
    1. Boss throws x2 slime attacks toward the target with Jelly Drop. Use the Rush ability to dodge to avoid getting an immobility effect for 3 seconds.
  2. Relentless Cannon
    1. Boss sends x2 rear linear attacks followed by an x1 frontal linear attack toward the Jelly Drop target.
    2. During the Throw Slime and Relentless Cannon attacks, the Jelly Drop target should move to the now immobilized Watched target and use the Slime Wave skill to absorb the spawned mites. Skill Slime Mites
    3. When Slime Wave is used on top of the Watched target:
      1. the Jelly Drop player will take over the immobilized state.
      2. the Jelly Drop and Watched targets will be connected with a Glue Trap link between them. The player with Watched will become free and will have to quickly get ready for move #9. Glue Trap Link
  3. Jaechun is watching someone
    1. The next target, recommended to be positioned at 14m, will receive the Watched effect for 12 seconds. This works in the same way as before but has a shorter duration until Stuck is applied.
  4. Relentless Wave
    1. Boss attacks the Jelly Drop target with a triangular AoE in their direction.
    2. As this is being cast, the connected Glue Trap target should stand ready to dash into the safe side of the arena. This will cause the linked player to be dragged along with them, transferring the Jelly Drop effect from the original target to the one who dashed to the other side. The Divine Sap stacks will also be transferred at the same time.

After this, the mechanics will essentially repeat but with the new Jelly Drop target and the next Watched targets.

Attack 1 Attack 2 Attack 3 Attack 4
Throw Slime Relentless Cannon Jaechun is watching someone Relentless Wave
Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target. Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target. The next and last target, recommended to be positioned at 12m, will receive the Watched effect for 10 seconds. Once more, this works in the same way as before, but has an even shorter duration until Stuck is applied. Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target.
Attack 5 Attack 6 Attack 7
Throw Slime Relentless Cannon Relentless Wave
Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target. Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target. Same as before, but toward the new Jelly Drop target.
  1. The Divine Sap stacks combine into a Giant Jelly Orb
  2. The last target to take over the Jelly Drop effect who dragged the immobilized Jelly Drop player will take over the effect for the last time. If the mechanics were done successfully and at least 9 stacks of Divine Sap has been generated, that player will spawn into a Giant Jelly Orb.
  3. Each hit applied to the Giant Jelly Orb will add a stack of Giant Jelly Orb.Giant Gelly Orb Status
    1. 30 stacks of Giant Jelly Orb will cause the orb to be thrown into the boss if hit from the right angle. 30 Stacks of Gient Jelly Orb
  1. Jaechun casts Slime Burst
    1. Boss starts performing a room-wide AoE inflicting instant death.
    2. Cancel the attack by sending the Giant Jelly Orb into the boss. Successfully doing so will daze the boss for a few seconds.
  2. Slime Barrage
    1. Phase finishes with five room-wide AoEs.
