Overview
Clans are large social groups in Blade & Soul, allowing players to band together to achieve greatness, defend their ideals, and seek out adventure and rewards. A clan must be aligned to either the Cerulean Order or Crimson Legion; in other words, everyone in the Clan must have joined the same faction. No unaligned martial artists allowed! If players wish to join a clan that belongs to another faction than what they originally chose, they have the option of transferring their faction alignment (assuming the other faction is accepting new members). This will cost a small fee and gained Faction Rank. There are many benefits to being a member of a clan.
Types of clans
The clan system is split into two sections.
This type of clan has most of the benefits of the competitive clans but can not partake in
clan battles and is usually used for finding groups or just chat in general
Competitive clans
This type of clan has all the perks of a social clan but it allows the clan leader to choose a battle commander and join in competitive clan battles
Creation & Setup
In order to create a clan, the player must submit a proposal to a Faction Clan Supervisor. This proposal will include a clan name that meets their requirements and an application fee. The requirements for the clan name are:
- Must be between 3 and 20 characters long
- One space is allowed, but not at the beginning or end
- May not contain profanity or other banned words
Once the clan has been created, players can open up the Clan Overview window (assigned to the “H” key by default) to change clan member ranks, warehouse (clan item storage) access, as well as invite others to join. Clan authorities are granted by rank, and a clan leader can assign different authority permissions to the clan member ranks.
Clan Application
Those looking for a clan will be able to search through existing clans via the Dragonspire, and from there, be able to contact a clan member for an invitation. Only those who have received an invitation can join. Invitations are only able to be sent by Clan Elders (by default) and above.
Competitive clans will require the clan to be level 2 to be able to advertise their clan in the Dragonspire or when you press H
Social clans are normally advertised by the system and are picked to be on the main screen when you press H or in the dragonspire
Size Limits
Clans are limited to 50 members from the start. Increasing Clan Levels will increase the membership size limit.
Member Ranks
Ranks and respective authority can be changed in the Clan Overview window. Below are the ones set by default.
Rank | Authority Access |
---|---|
Leader |
|
Advisor † |
|
Veteran |
|
Member |
|
Recruit |
|
† There may only be one Advisor in a clan.
* Clan rank must be 8 or higher for Windstride to be available.
Clan Levels
While players will reap plenty of reputation rewards through battling enemy Faction members, those rewards are best for your clan.
Clans are created at Rank 1 with basic benefits, like a Clan Vault and Noticeboard. However, increasing the Clan Rank provides ever-greater benefits. To do this, the clan has to meet certain requirements (detailed below). Some of the requirements include collecting substantial numbers of items, some of which (Soulstones and Faction Insignias) can only be obtained through faction-based daily quests. Prestige Points, a temporary PvP currency, can be gained by doing battle with the opposing faction and then can be traded for reputation within a faction. They can also be used to purchase Faction Insignias from each faction’s Coin Exchange Merchant.
Most items required to increase clan rank are obtained through gameplay that involves the clan to work together, or to honor their faction. Soulstones and Faction Insignias can, for instance, be obtained from certain enemy faction mobs, or by completing faction daily quests.
